The heart of this receiver is the pre-wound 175/46 Litz Coils that have a Q (Quality Factor) of over 600 at the low end of the AM Band.
There are two 240 Micro Henry Coils and one 100 Micro Henry Coil. One of the 240 Micro Henry coils is used in the detector tank circuit.
he other 240 Micro Henry coil is used in the antenna tank circuit it is switched in series with the 100 Micro Henry coil to tune the lower half of the AM Band.
This provides a higher Q on the upper half of the band than if one large coil were used to tune the entire band.
Make no Mistake this Radio falls in the Hi Performance Category ! Many stations may be tuned in that you would not know even existed with many crystal sets.
